Delivering Engineering Excellence for a Global Stage
World Expo 2020 was one of the most ambitious and inspiring developments ever undertaken in the Middle East — a purpose-built city designed to host millions of visitors and showcase innovation, sustainability, and human collaboration on a global scale.
Spanning more than 4 square kilometres, the Expo site featured three Thematic Districts — Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability — each comprising dozens of pavilions, shared infrastructure, and world-class amenities connected by advanced utilities and smart systems.

Objectiv engineers were involved in this project through prior professional roles, serving in senior leadership capacities during the design and construction phases of the Thematic Districts.
Objectiv engineers provided oversight, technical direction, and integration leadership across all major building services disciplines.
Key responsibilities included:
• Guiding the design and delivery of MEP systems across multiple pavilions and district-wide infrastructure.
• Managing coordination between architectural, structural, and specialist engineering teams to achieve unified, buildable solutions.
• Overseeing design assurance, technical compliance, and constructability reviews during critical delivery phases.
• Ensuring that sustainability objectives and global Expo performance standards were achieved within complex delivery timelines.
This role demanded deep multi-disciplinary understanding, rigorous technical governance, and the ability to align diverse stakeholder groups under a single engineering vision.

Outcome & Legacy
Expo 2020 stands as a landmark example of international collaboration and engineering ingenuity — delivering an entire functioning precinct that set new benchmarks for sustainability, digital integration, and visitor experience.
The experience gained through this project continues to shape Objectiv’s approach to large-scale, multi-stakeholder programs — ensuring that even the most complex technical environments are delivered with clarity, consistency, and a human-centred focus.
