Unlocking Brisbane’s Next Generation of Rail Connectivity
Cross River Rail is one of Queensland’s most transformative infrastructure projects — a 10.2-kilometre rail line including twin tunnels beneath the Brisbane River and four new underground stations. Designed to ease congestion, connect communities, and future-proof public transport for decades to come, it represents a once-in-a-generation investment in the city’s future.
Objectiv engineers were involved in this project through prior professional roles contributing to the multidisciplinary engineering leadership, coordination, and verification of major systems that underpin the network’s design and delivery.

Objectiv engineers worked across all major technical disciplines — civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering — providing oversight and assurance of integrated design solutions within one of Australia’s most complex transport environments.
Responsibilities included:
• Coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure design alignment across stations, tunnels, and surface works.
• Leading technical verification and compliance programs to validate that design outputs met contract, safety, and operational requirements.
• Facilitating collaboration between design, construction, and operations teams to manage interfaces and resolve technical risks.
• Supporting systems integration, commissioning readiness, and whole-of-life asset considerations.
This breadth of involvement provided a holistic understanding of how large-scale transport systems are conceived, designed, verified, and delivered within live metropolitan networks.

Outcome & Legacy
Cross River Rail stands as a defining project for South-East Queensland — a catalyst for new transport precincts, station-led urban renewal, and a more connected city.
Experience gained through this project continues to inform Objectiv’s advisory practice today: balancing technical excellence with clarity, collaboration, and human-centred delivery.
